New York City in 2024 is still hands-down one of the best places on Earth to eat. You’ve got everything here, from no-frills food trucks serving up unreal bites to Michelin-starred restaurants with dishes you’ll be thinking about for weeks.

Let’s break down where you should be eating, no matter what your vibe is.

Starting off with food trucks, The Halal Guys is a must. You’ll find them all over the city, but their cart at 53rd and 6th is the classic spot. Their chicken and rice platter with white sauce? Game-changer. It’s cheap, quick, and full of flavor.

Another food truck you have to hit is Los Tacos No. 1 in Chelsea Market. Okay, technically it’s a stall, not a truck, but their tacos are next level. The adobada (marinated pork) is a must-try, and don’t skip the homemade salsas.

If you’re into pizza, NYC is a pizza lover’s paradise. You’ve got the classic spots like Joe’s Pizza in Greenwich Village—grab a slice, fold it up, and walk around like a true New Yorker. But for something more elevated, check out Lucali in Brooklyn. It’s consistently rated one of the best pizzas in the city. The catch? It’s walk-in only, and the wait can be long, but trust me, it’s worth every minute.

Now, if you’re feeling like treating yourself to a Michelin-starred experience, look no further than Le Bernardin. This place is seafood heaven, and you’re going to want to try the tasting menu. The dishes are like little works of art, but they don’t just look good—they taste amazing, too.

For a more relaxed but still high-end experience, Cosme in the Flatiron District is your spot. It’s modern Mexican, and the duck carnitas are insane. You’ll want to share a bunch of dishes because everything on the menu is a hit.

For the steak lovers out there, Peter Luger Steak House in Brooklyn is the classic spot. They’ve been doing it old-school since the 1800s, and their porterhouse steak is legendary. Don’t forget to order the creamed spinach and German potatoes on the side.

If you’re looking for a food experience that's more experimental, check out Momofuku Ko. David Chang’s famous spot is known for pushing the boundaries with its tasting menu. It’s a splurge, but the flavors and creativity you’ll experience here are worth every penny.

And let’s not forget dessert. Levain Bakery on the Upper West Side serves up cookies the size of your face. They’re thick, gooey, and perfect with a cup of coffee. If you’re a fan of something a little lighter, Dominique Ansel Bakery (home of the cronut) should be on your list. Their desserts are as innovative as they are delicious
